Preschool Language Development

Preschool Language Development

About this Course

Children develop strong language skills when they are surrounded by rich conversations and vocabulary. In this course, we’ll explore language development in young children and learn evidence-based strategies for helping children develop language skills and extend their vocabulary knowledge.

Learning Outcomes

  • Use open-ended questions
  • Extend child responses
  • Use advanced language (vocabulary development)
  • Prompt thought processes
  • Use self- and parallel talk
  • Encouraging peer conversations
  • Support children with special needs and dual language learners

These strategies are job-embedded and will need to be implemented with the preschool children (3-5 year olds) in your setting.
